One of the Oscar nominees just announced this week is a long-form documentary film set in Burma/Myanmar during the 2007 monks’ protest against the repressive military regime. It’s called Burma VJ, a collection of videos by Burmese journalists, shot at great danger to themselves, and woven into a documentary by Danish director Anders Ostergaard.
I haven’t seen it and it appears to be unavailable at Amazon.com, Amazon.ca or Yesasia.com, but you can order from Amazon.co.uk.

- The film won an editing award at the 2009 Sundance Festival.
- It also collected enough votes among the 120,000-plus ticket buyers to make it into the top 10 of the Toronto Hot Docs Festival in spring, 2009.
